SafeZone At-Risk Training. 1 to 3 p.m., 206 K-State Student Union. At-Risk is a web-based gatekeeper training simulation designed to teach faculty/staff to effectively identify, approach, and refer students struggling or in mental distress. Users can learn by engaging in simulated conversations with virtual students who show symptoms of depression, anxiety, paranoia and thoughts of suicide. As a result, users are better able to handle similar situations in real life. Registration.

Vernon Larson International Lecture: Summer and Katrina Lewis

Sponsored by K-State Friends of International Programs and the Office of International Programs. This lecture series was begun in 1979 by Dr. Vernon C. Larson, then Director of International Agricultural Programs, and is the longest-running at K-State. With six presentations per year, held during the fall and spring semesters, the series offers an opportunity for the K-State community to hear presentations from faculty and individuals who have recently participated in an extensive overseas activity or who are involved in major international activities. The luncheon is open to everyone. Reservations for the luncheons can be made by e-mail (oip@ksu.edu) or by phone (532-5990) and should be made by noon of the Friday before each luncheon. You may also attend the lecture portion of this event, which begins at 12:15 p.m. at no cost.

SafeZone Introductory Training. 1 to 3 p.m., 212 K-State Student Union. Individuals are trained to become SafeZone allies who provide "safe zones" where individuals affected by homophobia, hateful acts, & sexual violence can safely go for support and assistance. By placing the SafeZone symbol on their office door, desk, or backpack, SafeZone allies signify that their space is a safe place to talk about issues which impact people who have been affected by any type of hateful or homophobic act, or who have been affected by sexual violence, sexual harassment, or any criminal or distressing situation.
